What is it?
The AIEdge-X®100-VPU is a new Edge AI computing solution from NEXCOM. This model takes a unique approach in combining a multimedia player with edge computing and AI processing. Unlike many other players on the market that use Intel® Core™ CPUs, the AIEdge-X®100-VPU utilises a power-saving Intel® Celeron® J3455 CPU and AIBooster® addon card with Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ X to achieve similar performance to an Intel® Core™ i5 but with a cost saving of 35%.
Key Features
Performance
The AIEdge-X®100-VPU multi-display media player is connected to two 4K displays and placed in the store to display advertising. The IP cameras are then connected to collect data from those locations. Captured images are processed to determine the number of customers, the gender and age of customers, viewer rate per screen, how long they looked at the screen, and this data is used to calculate the value of each advertising location. The results so far are impressive, with an overall sales increase of 20%.
Easy implementation is a critical component. Typically, rolling out an AI inference system to collect this data would take nine months with a custom solution. Now, with the power of multiple models available through OpenVINO™, development time has been slashed to only five months. Remote management allows all updates to happen automatically and data to pass seamlessly to a central management system.
