2022 marks the 30th anniversary of Distec’s founding. Throughout this time, the company has thrived and established itself as a specialist technology solution provider in a variety of industries.

We started with four directors with a unified goal. From that original vision, we have grown to boast a multimillion-pound turnover, while retaining our commitment to customer-focused products and services and the entrepreneurial spirit and strong values that we started out with.

Initially, Distec occupied a small office in central Salford, but moved some 20 years ago to larger, purpose- built premises in Irlam. The Irlam office features warehousing and configuration capabilities, as well as operational facilities, making it ideally suited to the growing needs of the company, and this has been Distec’s home ever since.

Growing and expanding

More recently, we have cemented our position as a key player in specialist technology solutions after being acquired by the KAMIC group, a privately held corporate group based in Sweden. Distec reports into EG Electronics, who cover the electronics area for KAMIC. The group consists of over 30 companies offering technical products and services in several well-defined market niches.

KAMIC Group has an annual turnover of approximately £1.6 billion with subsidiaries and branch offices in 12 countries in Northern Europe, Asia and the US, and a total of around 700 employees.

Customers, people, and partnerships at the heart of everything we do

At Distec we pride ourselves on building strong relationships with partners and customers. Over the years we have nurtured long-standing partnerships with many manufacturers and equipment suppliers including Elo Touch Solutions, Red Lion Controls, CKS Global Solutions and Siemens.

Distec’s success is largely due to the dedication of its staff.  Andrew Byrne, Sales Manager, started as an apprentice and has since completed a business studies college course, an NVQ in customer service and is now working towards a Chartered Management Institute Level 5 Diploma. He had this to say: ‘Over my time at Distec, I have seen the company go from strength to strength with strong core values, a long-term vision for continued development and career advancement for all employees. It’s been a pleasure to work alongside our customers and suppliers, many of whom I’ve dealt with since my start’.

Dean Challinor, General Manager added: ‘It is an honour to see Distec celebrating 30 years in business, and a privilege for me to be at the helm as we move into our fourth decade. I look forward to further growing Distec and developing the business in this exciting industry.

We are very grateful to all the staff members, customers and partners who have been with us for the last 30 years and aspire to carry on growing and supporting our customers in the years to come.
